We have taken the bold beauty of Australian opals and paired them with warm mallee timber burl and handcraft them into opal pens. We use only Australian opals, carefully crushing them, meticulously nestling them next to mallee burl. Once set in place the opal encrusted pen blank is turned on the wood lathe and polished to a spectacular crystal clear shine.

We send each pen home with a certificate of authenticity signed by the makers.

Australia Opals

Australia produces 95% of the world's precious opals and one might argue they are the world’s best opals. Opals are found in mudstones and sandstones. The sedimentary rock layers when heavily weathered releases silica into the groundwater. Silica travels through small faults and cracks in the rock where it slowly hardens into opal in veins.
